Chamonix Zermatt entire trail 10 days

The mythic Chamonix-Zermatt on foot: We start in Chamonix valley, in Le Tour village and end up 10 days later in Zermatt where the legendary Matterhorn waits for us. This route has been taken first by british climbers at the end of the 19th century.

During this trek, you'll ascent passes offering breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks including 4000 + mountains : Dent Blanche, Zinalrothorn, Weisshorn, and the Matterhorn.

Day by day

Day 1 : Chamonix - Trient

We leave Montroc village, walk up to Balme Pass (the border with Switzerland. The view is beautiful : Mont Blanc, Aiguille Verte, Drus ... A descent through the forest leads you to Trient village.

Day 2 : Trient - Champex

Two options according to the weather: Bovine taking a trial in balcony dominating the Rhône valley or la fenêtre d'arpette, offering a great view on Trient glacier. Down to Arpette hamlet.

Day 3 : Champex - Cabane de Mille

Short bus transfert to Bourg Saint Pierre in Entremont valley. A wonderful panoramic trail (viewpoint over the whole Mont Blanc range and Dents du Midi) to reach the Cabane des Mille.

Day 4 : Cabane de Mille - Cabane de Louvie

We pass through the valaisan ridges to join the village of Bruson. Stunning panorama to discover the central Alps !!!

Day 5 : Cabane de Louvie - Cabane de prafleuri

2 passes are waiting for us : Louvie and Praz Fleuri.Between them... Le Grand Désert and ibexes accompany us on the way !!

Day 6 : Cabane de prafleuri - Arolla les haudères

We walk along Grande Dixence lake, then ascent to the Riedmatten Pass. Descent to Arolla and les Haudères village.

We walk through Cotter pasture before getting to Torrent pass. Descent to Moiry lake. A great day to admire the 4000 giants : Dent Blanche, Zinalrothorn, Obergabelhorn, Weisshorn …

Day 8 : Grimentz - Grüben meiden

We leave Anniviers valley through Meidpass. Descent on Gruben village. We are now in the german spoken part of Switzerland. Beautiful view on turtmanglacier and Bishorn.

Day 9 : Grüben meiden - St Niklaus -Zermatt

Today we ascent Augstbordpass (2894 m) before walking down to Jungu village and St Nicklaus. We are in the Zermatt valley, a quick bus transfer and we arrive to Zermatt.
