Enjoy a 7-day trek at your own pace between Chamonix and Courmayeur, with the comfort of private room accommodations. Explore the northern section of the legendary Tour du Mont Blanc while savoring the beauty and serenity of the Alps in complete independence.
Highlights include crossing the stunning Val Ferret with its glaciers, the peaceful Lake Champex, and panoramic views from the Col de Balme. With pre-booked accommodations in private rooms, this format combines the freedom of self-guided travel with the comfort of a restful night.
Starting from Chamonix, you’ll embark on a gentle climb along a balcony trail at the foot of the Aiguilles Rouges. The path leads you through the valley, offering superb views of the Mont Blanc massif towering majestically over the landscape. You’ll reach the picturesque village of Le Tour, nestled at the valley's end, where you’ll spend the night.
Today, the route takes you to the Col de Balme, a strategic pass that marks the border between France and Switzerland. This passage offers a spectacular view of the Chamonix valley and the snow-capped peaks surrounding it. The descent takes you through peaceful alpine meadows and forests, providing a full immersion in the Mont Blanc's wild natural beauty.
From La Forclaz, you will follow the Bovine trail, winding through the typical pastures of Valais, where the iconic Hérens cows graze peacefully. You will then continue towards Champex, a charming village beside its alpine lake, perfect for a refreshing break.
A gentle and scenic day awaits, starting with a pleasant walk through the valley. You will follow the famous "bisse," an ancient irrigation channel, guiding you through forests and meadows until you reach the Arpette Valley. The view over Lake Champex is simply magical.
Leaving La Fouly, you will gradually ascend to the Grand Col Ferret, a natural border between Switzerland and Italy. Along the way, take in the breathtaking views of the Pré de Bar glacier, a majestic ice tongue stretching across the landscape. A pleasant descent then brings you to the Italian Val Ferret, surrounded by imposing peaks.
A delightful stage takes you through the alpine pastures of Armina and Malatra. The lush and flower-filled meadows are home to dairy cows producing the famous Fontina cheese, a local delicacy. The path offers magnificent views of the glaciers and the southern face of Mont Blanc, creating a grand spectacle.
The final day begins with a gentle climb to the Col Chécroui, offering unforgettable panoramas of the Mont Blanc massif and its gleaming glaciers. The route continues into the wild and impressive landscapes of the Italian side of Mont Blanc, leading to Val Veni. The trek ends around 2:00 PM, with a regular bus service back to Chamonix.
